Edge trimmings:

Landolt puts edge trimmings from nonwoven production to new uses – as filling materials. Edge trimmings are used to loosen sand and glass sand mixtures, or as padding for packages containing breakable goods (since the trimmings are not electrostatically chargeable).The offcuts are available in bales of about 200 kg; they can be reused many times and can be disposed of without releasing any harmful substances.
